Everyone can now have a well earned rest after a very successful day. Six families, our speakers and Health Professionals from the Derby Hospitals, a total 18 people found plenty of time to chat and get to know each other. Families from Sunderland, Liverpool, Leicester, Derby, Bretby and Melton Mowbray made this the first meeting of FAP families outside of London and also the first organised by patients, a day to remember. After talks by John (A history of Swarkestone Bridge and an introduction to FAP) and myself (How I see the differences in FAP to other genetic faults leading to cancer) a very positive group discussed how differently the gene had affected them and even differences within the same family. A splendid buffet lunch was followed by talks on The History of FAP and The St. Marks Polyposis Registry by Kay Neale and on the new Alfa Capsules by Chris Jordan of SLA Pharma. There was plenty of interest and all agreed how worthwhile the day had been. Our thanks to the sailing club especially Clare who had prepared the buffet and drinks throughout the day. Also Kay, Chris and Claire and Wendy from the Derby Hospitals.
