Networking
Project - Krystle Kontoh Project Officer - Facilitating
Networks Genetic Interest Group - Over the course of
the next three years (Aug 2008 - Aug 2011) I will be
supporting the development of three networks of clinical
expertise with 8 of our members. One of these groups
is FAPGene.
The
Northern Primary Care Genetics Website This
website has been developed to provide an important resource
for all those working within Primary Care. The site
has been developed by The Primary Care Genetics Service
for The North of Tyne, in collaboration with The Northern
Genetic Service for the region.
It provides information on a range
of genetic subjects relevant to Primary Care. In addition
it aims to raise the awareness of the role of the Primary
Care Team in the identification, prevention and care
of genetic conditions and of inherited factors in the
predisposition of common disease such as cancer, ischaemic
heart disease and diabetes.
Artwork
Project
- Sculpting a Voice for Genetic Disorders
is an artist initiated project to raise awareness of
living with a genetic condition through the visual arts.
Julia Thomas is an artist with
a research background in bioscience. After having gone
back to college to further her studies in Art &
Design, she now wants to combine the skills and knowledge
of both her scientific and artistic backgrounds. In
particular, her mission is to work with health related
issues and health/science organisations to inspire artwork
that will help to raise awareness for those affected.

Capsules Omega 3 - At our 2006 Family/Information
Day we had an interesting insight into Fatty Acid Capsules.
The company concerned SLA Pharma now have a website
specifically for their ALFA Capsules and are looking
at further trials later in the year. Includes Radio

Telling
Stories - A new educational
website from The National Genetics Education and Developement
Centre in Birmingham. There are two stories from patients
with FAP.
FAP
for Kids - a book especially
for children with FAP Published in the U.S.A. for The
National Society of Genetic Counselors.
Family
Talk Study - A team of Researchers
from The University of Birmingham request your help
with part of this study into FAP.
A
Special Edition of The Familial Cancer Journal on FAP
- We have been given two copies
of The Journal and include the titles of the articles
and a website link for complete details. We feel this
is a very important Journal and hope it will help to
improve knowledge to the benefit of patients with FAP.
